In an ever-evolving global electronic music scene where new artists emerge daily, few manage to leave a lasting impact quite like Somna. Recognized as one of Canada’s leading trance exports, Somna earned the #45 position in the DJTOP100 (TrancePodium 2019), making him the highest-ranked Canadian artist within the top 100. Over the years, his music has been released on some of the most respected labels in electronic music including Armada Music, Black Hole Recordings, Enhanced Music, Ophelia Records and more.

With over 50 million streams across platforms, Somna has become one of the few trance artists to build a truly global audience while consistently evolving beyond the genre’s traditional boundaries.

Known for his emotionally driven songwriting and polished production style, Somna’s music regularly finds support from some of the biggest names in dance music including Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Markus Schulz, Ferry Corsten, Gareth Emery and Cosmic Gate. His releases have appeared regularly on globally recognized radio shows and podcasts including A State Of Trance, Group Therapy, Corsten’s Countdown and Global DJ Broadcast. Beyond his original productions, Somna has also become a highly sought-after remixer, reworking music for artists such as BT, Paul Oakenfold, Markus Schulz, Andy Moor, Menno de Jong and Lange.

As a performer, Somna blends traditional DJ performance with modern technologies to create immersive sets focused on melody, emotion and energy. Years of experience under previous aliases helped shape performances at major events and venues including Creamfields, Global Gathering, Coloursfest, Eden Ibiza and The Arches. As Somna, he has continued expanding internationally with performances at the main stage of Dreamstate in Southern California, Colosseum Club Jakarta in Indonesia, WOMB in Japan, and events across the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, Mexico, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada.

Throughout his career, Somna has built a catalog filled with milestone moments. His collaboration with Andy Moor and Amy Kirkpatrick, “One Thing About You,” reached #1 on Beatport and remained in the top 10 for three consecutive weeks, later earning recognition as the most streamed trance track on Beatport in 2015. Multiple releases during 2015 and 2016 reached Beatport’s top 10, including collaborations featuring vocalists such as Jennifer Rene and Michele C. To celebrate the 200th release of Lange Recordings, Somna teamed up with Johnny Yono and Monoverse for “Hijackers,” which climbed to #3 on Beatport. During this period he also debuted on Armada Captivating and Future Sound Of Egypt Excelsior while joining Andy Moor for AVA Recordings’ 10-year anniversary compilation project. A rare triple play on A State Of Trance episode #791 further solidified 2016 as a breakout year for the Canadian producer.

Momentum continued into the years that followed. In 2018, Somna reached the landmark of one million Spotify streams for “Look Back” while making debut appearances in Jakarta, Oslo, Zurich and Amsterdam. In 2019, he earned a “Progressive Pick” winner on A State Of Trance with “Razor,” released on Armind Recordings, while also debuting on Gareth Emery’s Garuda Recordings with two high-energy singles. That same year, his collaboration with HALIENE titled “Secret” received critical acclaim, multiple plays on A State Of Trance and an official music video release. On the touring side, Somna made his debut in Mexico City and performed on the main stage at Dreamstate Southern California, where he previewed music from his forthcoming artist album. Closing the year with AVA Recordings’ landmark 300th release alongside Andy Moor, Somna cemented himself as one of the most exciting modern trance artists to emerge from Canada.

In 2020, Somna released his debut artist album, Beside You, on Black Hole Recordings’ Magik Muzik imprint to widespread acclaim. The album earned “Album of the Month” recognition in Mixmag and topped charts across multiple countries, showcasing a cinematic and emotionally rich sound that resonated deeply with listeners worldwide. While the global pandemic forced the cancellation of planned tours across the USA, UK, Indonesia, Malaysia and Japan, Somna quickly adapted by building a strong presence on the Twitch streaming platform. His channel rapidly grew into a dedicated global community, combining music production, live DJ performances, humor and multi-genre exploration into a unique online experience.

Without slowing down creatively, Somna released his second artist album, Satellites, in 2023 to major success. The album campaign included a guest appearance on Armin van Buuren’s A State Of Trance broadcast, introducing the project to millions of listeners around the world. The subsequent tour brought Somna to countries including Japan, the Netherlands, Thailand, the Philippines, the United Kingdom and the United States, while live recorded performances from the tour have accumulated hundreds of thousands of views online. During the same year, Somna also became the only music artist approached by McDonald’s Canada to promote their summer beverage campaign through his Twitch platform, resulting in a highly successful campaign that reached the streaming platform’s front page.

Beyond trance, Somna has continued expanding creatively into melodic bass, hard dance and other emotionally charged electronic styles while maintaining the melodic identity that has defined his career. His newest artist album, Pathways, represents this evolution and reflects a broader artistic vision shaped by years of musical exploration. Alongside his role as co-owner for AVA Recordings, Somna continues pushing forward as one of Canada’s most versatile and globally recognized electronic music artists.
